Although the effects of social influence on real-life interactions have been extensively studied, research into online social influence is limited. Its manifestation in the form of movements such as ‘Cancel Culture’ and ‘Woke Culture’ allows us to reconsider the extent to which the Internet lets us express our identity and opinions freely and uninhibitedly. Ultimately, one question remains: Is the Internet taking away our voices?
The article attempts to explain neurodiversity, referring to the natural neural variation in human brains. It defines the word, who falls under it, and traces the history and evolution of the movement: further leading to the systemic injustices and oppression of neurodivergent individuals. Despite this, neurodiversity is considered the natural norm and embracing it could lead to a different kind of world that is inclusive on all levels.
