The international community, starting from the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, in 1979, to the recent Millenium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, have committed to achieving gender equality and the advancement of women, universally. This article discusses the dynamics of how gender budgeting has played out, and how changes can be made to best fit the requirements of the economy.
