The 21st century brought about radical demands for changes in oppressive systems, policies and ideologies. Although public opinions on blatant discrimination have changed—observed by a large number of movements for equality, both online and offline—it is still a relevant problem in most parts of the world today. Through an understanding of implicit biases, hidden discrimination, tokenism, and minority misrepresentation, this article aims to inform readers about the prevalence of discrimination and its deep-rooted causes.
