This article uses text analysis of the budget speech between 2022-23 and the current budget speech by the Finance Minister to see if there are more mentions of areas that have seen increases in allocations or decreases in allocations. We compare the change in allocations and focus on key ministries and departments where there has been a large (positive and negative) change in funds allocated.
Agency, Access & AGYW: Empathetic Engagement in HIV Prevention and Research
Adolescent girls and young women (AGYW)—defined as being between the ages of 15-24— across the globe remain at an elevated risk of HIV due to various converging sociocultural factors. A recent UNAIDS report raises serious concerns regarding the increase in HIV infection among youth in recent years—among some 460 adolescent girls who become infected with HIV, an estimated 50 die every day from AIDS-related illnesses.
Many social and behaviour change interventions geared towards HIV prevention have targeted enhancing the knowledge of adolescent girls. However, are we able to reach them adequately in places and spaces where they live, work, and grow?
