Autism spectrum disorder, a neurodevelopmental disorder marked with social communication deficits and interest in repetitive and restrictive behaviors is largely misunderstood. Does this disorder constitute a complete lack of social skills or does it involve alternative ways of communicating that are not the norm? This article will focus on one such symptom, namely the repetitive and restrictive behavior and tries to bust the myths surrounding it.
