The Mental Health continuum has often been instrumental in defining illness and wellbeing. As the black and white continue to classify and categorize illness and wellbeing, the grey area, that is, not a mental health condition, but a lack of mental wellbeing, now seems to be what many citizens continue to face amidst the pandemic. The occasional procrastination, feeling of emptiness, and stagnation have now been given a name-Languishing.
Factors such as medication use, housing issues, and behavioural problems affect people with schizophrenia, making them more susceptible to contracting COVID-19. The article focuses on a study from New York University that found a higher prevalence rate of people with COVID-19 diagnosis, who were also on the schizophrenia spectrum.
