Spoil the sex-typing and spare the child: A review of gender-neutral parenting

Gender-neutral parenting is a parenting style whereby children are raised without enforcing any gender norms until they are ready to self-identify their gender. This unconventional, somewhat controversial approach has been making the rounds on popular media of late as more and more people are growing disenchanted by normative gender roles. This article explores the phenomenon of gender-neutral parenting, with reference to Sandra Bem’s Gender Schema theory of sex-typing.
