Childhood and adolescence are seen as periods of emotional development and regulation, learning, and transition. Such development and transition are most often accomplished with the help of an individual’s familial and social support system. The support that the child or student receives from these familial and extrafamilial relationships acts as a foundation for the individual to thrive in various academic and non-academic endeavours. In the present article, we will discuss the factors that impact an adolescent’s academic resilience, and how external support can effectively help adolescents build this resilience.
